Biography on Dr. Ediel I. Brown Sr. – Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist

My medical/surgical experiences over the years have been greatly enriched by performing joint surgeries and collaborative research, with eminent international colleagues and friends. Performed the first cochlear implant surgery in the English Speaking Caribbean along with Professor Howard Francis then at John Hopkins Hospital, who is now the Richard Hall Chaney, Sr. Distinguished Professor of Otolaryngology and Chair of the Department of Head and Neck Surgery & Communication Sciences (HNS&CS) at Duke University in North Carolina, USA

Functioned at various levels of leadership including;

  1. ENT departmental chair at Jamaica’s largest public hospital (Kingston Public) and the largest children’s hospital in the English speaking Caribbean (Bustamante Children’s Hospital)
  2. Served for ten years as the Medical Director in Jamaica’s largest type B teaching Hospital
  3. Appointed Associates Lecturer at the University of the West Indies for fifteen years, and was integral to the Ear, Nose, Throat and Head and Neck residency training program.
  4. Lecturer in Gross Anatomy and Developmental Embryology at the University of Technology in Jamaica since February 2023 to Present

Author of two books and several publications with numerous national and international presentations;

  1. Embryology (Genera -Medical Science) – being edited and upgraded
    1. several manuscripts of Regional and Systems Embryology being edited for Journal submission and also for book publication
  2. Cosmic Journey (Genera:- Body, Soul and Spirit)
    1. Several manuscripts as part of a series being edited

Ex-Military Officer: At Her Majesties Commission, served as a Military Officer in the Jamaica Defense Force (National Reserve)

Research Interest: Developmental Embryology with a view of not merely better understanding embryogenesis and organogenesis with improved early surgical interventions in treating congenital anomalies, but even more so through global collaborative multidisciplinary research efforts in the field of Developmental, Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology to collective distil the existing and emerging knowledge in order to expeditiously bring clarification to embryological processes and form that can aid bioengineers in the development of new preventive and therapeutic regenerative medical intervention that will have sustainable positive global impact on human health and longevity.
